A woman in long-term recovery who is a Master of Business candidate. She has two children and is married to her best friend and love of her life, David. She has worked in the substance use and mental health field for over 15 years and has held several positions throughout that time. She is a Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist with specialized tracks in Supervision, Youth, Veterans, and Elderly Assistance. Finally, she is a Certified Strengthening Families’ facilitator and trainer as well as a facilitator for Mental Health First Aid-Youth and Adult. She has a passion for social justice reform and helping individuals heal from their generational trauma to break the cycle and bondage caused by broken systems.

Code of Ethics in Action: Upholding Integrity in Peer Recovery Support work

Ethics for Peer Recovery Support Specialists (PRSS), drawn from 43A O.S. §§ 2-101 and 3-326, and OAC Title 450:53. Participants will explore why ethics matter in peer recovery work, review their legal and professional responsibilities, and walk through real-world scenarios. The presentation includes discussion on boundaries, self-care, and the importance of practicing within scope and without impairment. Attendees will leave with greater confidence in navigating ethical issues in the field and upholding recovery-centered

values in practice.

Key Learning Objectives:

  1. Define the purpose and importance of a Code of Ethics for PRSSs.

  2. Identify the core responsibilities and legal standards in Oklahoma's PRSS Code of Ethics.

  3. Recognize ethical dilemmas and appropriate responses in peer work.

  4. Understand the significance of boundaries, dual relationships, and confidentiality.

  5. Explain the role of supervision, self-awareness, and continuing education in ethical practice.
