DAY 3. Medical personnel speakers
Coming back from burnout
This presentation will explore the definitions of Burnout, Compassion Fatigue, Secondary Traumatic Stress, and Moral Injury, highlighting their prevalence among healthcare workers. These conditions, which can overlap, are common due to the emotional and physical demands of healthcare. We will examine how each condition manifests, with Burnout leading to exhaustion and disengagement, Compassion Fatigue diminishing empathy, Secondary Traumatic Stress stemming from exposure to trauma, and Moral Injury resulting from ethical conflicts. The presentation will also provide strategies for preventing and recovering from these challenges, focusing on self-care, organizational support, resilience-building, and creating a compassionate workplace.
